Urban Studies is focussed on understanding the development of cities and city life.

Interdisciplinary in nature, urban studies extend across the social, economic, planning and political dimensions that combine to explain the complexity of urban systems.

Our research in this space include (but not limited to) urban modelling, transportation, urban and regional planning, community development, housing, population ageing, human mobility, urban regeneration and revitalisation as well as urban policies and management.

We place a particular emphasis on understanding the geographical and social dimensions to unveil the drivers and inhibitors of sustainable urban development in the era of climate change, rapid population growth and diminishing natural resources, and technological advancement.

Collectively our work are generating knowledge and developing tools to contribute to policy making as well as inform the general public in meeting the complex challenges associated with sustainable urban development.
