In the coming decades planners will face several challenges: accommodating a growing population while maintaining a good quality of life; funding new infrastructure; and understanding the impacts of disruptive technologies such as drones, ride-sharing companies, and online marketplace and hospitality providers (like Airbnb) on our cities and regions.

To meet these challenges we have developed research strengths in transport planning, urban regeneration, natural resource management and infrastructure financing.

We blend practitioner-based knowledge with academic research. We work in teams with allied disciplines in the School including geography and environmental management. We also work with Civil Engineering through the UQ Transport Population Research Network.
