Marine geoscience examines the interaction between plate tectonics, the evolution of marine and coastal environments, oceanographic forces and climate.

We use innovative geochemical techniques and radiometric dating as well as remote sensing and GIS analysis, wave and current measurement, and computer modelling to interpret past and current changes in ocean and coastal systems to make predictions about the future of our marine environment.

We have conducted ocean going research as part of the Australia and New Zealand Integrated Ocean Discovery Program Consortium (ANZIC) and using specially commissioned ships such as the RV D Hill.
