Seismic and inversion research
Inversion is the computational process to build three-dimensional maps of the subsurface from one- and two-dimensional data set collected on or above the Earth's surface.
The key idea is to determine rock property such as density by fitting the output of one or several physical model(s) to the observed data.
Inversion is a multidisciplinary effort involving mathematics, computer science, software engineering and physics.
Current research focuses on the development for techniques for computational intensive inversion with applications in regional and deep inversion and joint inversion.
