Research aims to enhance the understanding of the microbial and geochemical evolution of co-produced waters and gases of the Walloon Subgroup. This will be achieved through extensive geochemical analysis and dating of co-produced water and gas samples. Outputs from this research may assist in site selection for microbially enhanced coal bed methane (MECoM) applications, and also groundwater management and monitoring. This research will form the basis of the first integrated investigation of solute sources and microbial modifications to Walloon coal bed water chemistry at a regional scale.
