Shahram’s PhD research purpose is to assess mass movement hazards and the likelihood of earthquake triggering in Queensland East Coast, from Sunshine Coast to Fraser Coast Regions. The active tectonics of the area shows there is a strong possibility of future ruptures in island deposits and surrounding coastal edges. The general scope of coastal ground instability hazard zonation involved a series of identification, mapping and dating, and hazard assessment including deterministic and probabilistic approaches. Finally, “is Fraser Island in danger of destruction from a giant landsliding triggered by seismic shaking and anthropogenic activities?”
