Timor-Leste is one of the world’s newest countries located on the southern edge of the Indo-Pacific in the region known as the Coral Triangle, the epicenter of marine biodiversity.  My project will be combining the XL Catlin Seaview Survey kilometer-scale phototransects and US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration datasets along the north coast of the country.  I hope to build on recent work quantifying the marine resources present and focusing specifically on coral reef benthic composition, marine biodvierstiy of Brachyuran crabs and fishes, and coral health in the context of this developing nation with significant planned infrastructural and tourism development.
