Crowd Sourced Mapping with Smartphones to Augment and Improve Place Information for Location-based Services
Crowd sourced mapping with smartphones to augment and improve place information for location-based services.
Location information is extremely important for identifying places from smartphones with positioning technology. Reasons may include: i) reverse geocoding of a location for emergency services, ii) Service point of access to properties in urban facilities and rural properties. For instance, a delivery service for a local business could collect mobile GPS tracks on rural house locations, access points and tracks. This would be valuable for emergency services who are unfamiliar with the area.
