This project aims to constrain the origin and evolution of the Cenozoic volcanism in Eastern Australia by utilising geochemical data to investigate the source, crustal processes controlling the generation and transport of magmas as well as the genetic evolution of the magmatism. Petrological and geochemical findings will be interpreted considering regional structural information and geophysical data on mantle thermal anomalies to decipher the link between the magmatism and probable plume model.
