Researcher biography

Sandy Vigar is a Principal (Partner) of ERM based in Brisbane, Australia. She has 29 years planning, environmental and community consultation experience in government and consulting. Sandy has been responsible for a wide range of projects and provides advice to private and public sector clients.

Sandy has worked extensively in the facilitation of major development projects, including industrial projects, master-planned communities, major city centre projects and tourist and entertainment projects.

Sandy was Project Director and a principal author of the City of Thuringowa Planning Scheme, which has established a planning framework based on ESD principles for a fast-growing regional city in northern Queensland, Australia. This project was awarded the Planning Institute of Australia’s 2004 Award for Excellence in Urban Planning Achievement.

A particular area of interest is community and stakeholder consultation, engagement and involvement and Sandy has designed and facilitated many programs for projects of high community interest.

Sandy has served as Queensland and National President of the Royal Australian Planning Institute, now the Planning Institute of Australia.
