Researcher biography

Tara Jonell recently joined the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow within the Tectonics and Biostratigraphy Research Group in 2018. She has broad research interests that focus on reconstructing the evolution of mountain landscapes as a consequence of climatic, tectonic, and human-induced change. To quantify the physical and chemical weathering processes lending to the decay of orogens, Tara specializes in integrating sediment provenance techniques with geomorphometric analysis of sedimentary routing systems. Her research has brought her to work in the Himalaya, Vietnam, and western China, with collaborative projects established in the southwestern U.S. and in the Arabian Sea.
