Work experience
Work experience isn't a course requirement, but it can enrich your studies and enhance your career prospects.
We encourage you to undertake work experience in your field of interest.
Register your work experience
All UQ students are entitled to University insurance cover for up to 30 days per calendar year of unpaid work experience related to their studies.
If you register your work experience with us, we'll approve your insurance cover if we feel the experience you've chosen is relevant to your study program.
To register your work experience:
- download our Unpaid work experience registration form (PDF, 897kB)
- complete all sections of the form digitally
- ask the work experience provider to sign the form
- read the sections on the form that outline the University's terms and conditions, and statutory requirements before signing
- submit your completed form via the self placement link available on InPlace at least five working days before you start work experience.
We'll assess your application and let you know if your insurance has been approved.
