Maximising your research impact and engagement – what really counts?


As we move towards new measures of our research quality and quantity a major focus is being place on engagement and impact. This presentation will provide an overview of approaches to designing and doing your research that lead to effective engagement and impact. We will also have examples of what definitely doesn’t work in developing engagement and ensuring your work has impact. You won’t be hearing much about “Nature” publications in this the context of this topic, but they are a possible part of longer term research strategies. The talk will focus on different forms of engagement and impact across a range of  fields. Examples will be given from work that has impacted State and Commonwealth Government policies and practices, and industry activities. These will align directly with the ARC’s guidelines on research and engagement.
