High school engagement

We enjoy close relationships with schools and welcome enquiries about how to engage with us.

From campus visits and tours to interactive workshops, guest speaker talks and presentations at schools, all of our engagement events and activities provide students with a preview of life and learning at UQ.

Our team can answer questions about study options, careers and campus life, and deliver information and resources to showcase some of the big issues our school strives to tackle.

UQ Open Day

We play an active role in UQ Open Day and invite high school students and staff to get involved in our activities on the day.

UQ Open Day offers a taste of the UQ experience, and our workshops and information sessions provide insight into what it's like to study with the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences.

Visit the Future Students UQ Open Day web pages for more information.

UQ Earth and Environment Day

Our annual UQ Earth and Environment Day offers senior high school students the chance to experience what it's like to study geography, planning, earth sciences and environmental management at UQ.

Designed to expose students from years 10 to 12 to new ways of looking at the world, the day's program covers topics as varied as growing populations, climate change, food security and natural resource management.

It includes workshops and other interactive activities, including a geographic information systems (GIS) workshop on using data to make decisions about earthquakes, disease outbreaks and public behaviour.

2017 UQ Earth and Environment Day

Our 2017 UQ Earth and Environment Day will be held on Friday 21 July 2017.

Find out more about 2017 UQ Earth and Environment Day, including full program details and how to register yourself or your group.

Campus and classroom visits

We can arrange visits to our campus - or we can come to your classroom - to talk about UQ and the courses and programs we offer.

We also run regular events for high school students, including guest speaker talks, workshops and presentations.

Visit the UQ in Schools website for more information, or email us with your request.

Geology Museum

Our Geology Museum is open year-round to visitors to the St Lucia campus.

The display was developed in collaboration with the Queensland Museum. It houses a collection of specimens from historic mines and mineral localities across Australia, and showcases fine minerals from around the world.

Visiting hours are from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

The museum is located in the Steele Building (Building 3).
