Researchers found the 1cm bone inside a cave near Rockhampton 

It is said to be the earliest record of a giant lizard on the entire continent

Radiocarbon dating suggests this bone is around 50,000 years old 

This timeframe coincides with the arrival of the first Aboriginal inhabitants
